Empowering the Next Generation of Women in Technology
At Liquidnet, we understand and have seen firsthand that companies with a greater focus on gender parity will not only thrive but also surpass their competitors. As a leading fintech, it’s our responsibility to increase female representation and cultivate a culture of inclusion for women both within and outside of Liquidnet. While only 28% of computer science degrees are held by women, 74% of young women express interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) fields. Our junior bench development initiatives including Camp_Codea and our Summer Internship Program reflect our commitment to championing these interests and recruiting more women.
Camp_Codea is a five-day summer program (August 5-9, 2019) for female high-school students interested in Computer Science, introducing them to the world of coding and technology. Camp_Codea provides a thorough introduction into this area for students who do not have regular access to computer science resources. Participants learn first-hand from Liquidnet developers and other members of our technology team, who use Liquidnet’s unique technology environment as Camp_Codea’s lab.
In 2018, our Summer Internship Program had a demographic of 44% women, 56% men. With 21 roles already filled, our 2019 NY class currently sits at 48% women and 52% men. One of this summer’s female interns is a graduate of Camp_Codea and another has been working with our tech team part-time throughout her spring semester.
