Hong Kong Dark Report: December 2024

 

The Hong Kong Dark Report is a tool to help the buy side understand and navigate the Hong Kong market structure on a per stock basis. The report highlights dark market data points including dark % of turnover and trends, dark trade sizes, block turnover and statistical highlights, amongst others. 


 
  • HSCI names dark activities recovered from record low to 1.7% of total market turnover, up +27%.

  • 1821.HK was the most actively traded name in dark at 42.9% and 15% of dark trading came from Liquidnet.

  • All sectors were more active except Utilities. Real Estate was the hottest with +61% MoM gain, mainly led by 1821.HK hitting a new peak for the year. Then followed by Consumer Discretionary, top names were Prada 1913 HK and Samsonite 1910 HK accounting for 20% of the turnover.

  • Large Cap names in HK also came back into the play. CK Asset 1113 HK, Netease 9999 HK & AIA 1299 HK were on top of the dark turnover in HS Index.

  • Notably, 1341.HK had blocky trades in dark during the month with average trade size of US$3.1m.
